Sippen Siren
I might be a little biased toward Sippin Siren since I worked there while living on the island, but I genuinely think my bias is valid. If you’re looking for one of the most versatile and well-stocked coffee shops in Hilo, this is it.
They can make just about any drink you can think of, and they have one of the largest syrup and flavor selections of any coffee shop on the Big Island that I’ve seen. The menu is extensive, offering espresso drinks, blended drinks, matcha, smoothies, specialty lattes, and more, so there’s truly something for everyone.
The food is just as impressive. While working there, I had many customers tell me it was some of the best food they had during their trip to Hawaiʻi. Right by the register, you’ll find a bake case filled with fresh cakes, scones baked the same day, and a variety of Danishes. And that’s not all, when you walk in and look to the left, you’ll see refrigerators stocked with house-made treats like brownies, cookies, parfaits, dessert bars, and other grab-and-go options.
Sippin Siren really does have a little bit of everything, and the staff is always friendly and happy to help. If you’re in Hilo and searching for a great coffee shop with an extensive drink menu and fresh baked goods, this is a stop you won’t regret.
My Top Recommendations:

Just Cruisin Coffee
Just Cruisin Coffee is a great option if you’re looking for fast, on-the-go coffee in Hilo. No matter how long the line has been when I’ve gone, I’ve always been helped and had my drink in hand within about five minutes. It’s one of the most efficient coffee stops I’ve found on the Big Island.
They offer a large variety of coffee drinks along with around 40 different flavor options, which makes it easy to customize exactly what you’re craving. Whether you like something classic or more on the sweet side, they have plenty of choices.
Beyond coffee, they also serve breakfast items, deli-style sandwiches, specialty sandwiches, bagels, muffins, and other baked goods, making it a solid stop if you need something quick to eat as well.
If you’re looking for reliable coffee and quick service in Hilo, I would definitely recommend stopping by Just Cruisin Coffee.
Coffee Girl
Coffee Girl is a great stop in Hilo if you’re looking for a more aesthetic, Instagram-worthy coffee shop. Both locations are decorated with the cutest décor and lots of plants, giving it a bright, trendy vibe that immediately stands out.
The drinks often come topped with cold foam or fun, detailed finishes, making them extra photo-worthy. They also lean toward the sweeter side, with creative specialty drinks and fun seasonal options. If you love a sweet coffee moment, this is definitely your place.
One of my favorite little details? Their pink heart-shaped straws. I genuinely geeked out over them, they’re such a small touch, but they make the whole experience feel extra cute.

Hilo Coffee Corner
Hilo Coffee Corner is a super cute coffee shop tucked inside the Hilo Lagoon Building lobby, and it’s worth stopping by if you’re wandering around downtown Hilo. At first glance, it almost looks like you’re pulling into a hotel parking lot, but once you walk up you’ll see the shop right away.
The shop itself is small and doesn’t have indoor seating, but they make it easy with a kiosk outside where you can order without waiting in line, perfect for grabbing coffee and heading out to explore.
They’re known for their hand-whisked matcha drinks (which locals rave about) and also serve a variety of coffee beverages made with locally roasted Ka‘u coffee, including cold brew, lattes, and specialty espresso drinks. Beyond coffee and matcha, Hilo Coffee Corner also offers smoothies, acai bowls, refreshing cold drinks, and grab-and-go treats, making it a nice spot to fuel up mid-day.
One thing that stands out here is that they focus on local ingredients and community connections, from locally roasted beans to partnerships with area bakeries for fresh goods.
If you want a simple but quality coffee or matcha drink while you’re exploring Hilo, especially around the downtown or waterfront area, this little shop is definitely worth a stop.
Anuenue On The Bay
Hilo finally has a coffee shop that feels like something new. Anuenue on The Bay adds a fresh, elevated vibe to the local café scene while still feeling grounded and welcoming.
The interior leans into darker, rustic tones with warm wood textures and colorful local touches that keep it inviting. It’s cozy without being cramped, with plenty of seating whether you’re meeting friends or settling in for a productive work session,d it’s quickly becoming one of my go-to work cafés in Hilo.
One of the biggest highlights is the location. It’s right across from the ocean, so you get that breezy Hilo Bay energy while you sip your drink or get some work done inside.
The menu offers a solid range of espresso drinks, from classic lattes and cappuccinos to flavored options if you’re craving something sweeter, plus iced drinks that are perfect for warm Hilo afternoons. They also serve teas and a rotating selection of pastries and light bites, making it easy to turn a quick coffee stop into a relaxed café moment.
If you’re searching for oceanfront coffee in Hilo or a cozy, work-friendly café with a fresh feel, Anuenue on The Bay is absolutely worth checking out.

Hilo Ice Coffee
Hilo Iced Coffee is a cute little coffee cart located right along Hilo’s famous 4-mile stretch of beaches, making it one of the most convenient coffee stops in Hilo. The location alone makes it worth a visit, especially if you’re planning a beach day.
But it’s not just about convenience, dthe drinks here are genuinely good. Their menu includes creative options like a Cinnamon Roll Latte, Lilikoi Spritzer, and even Black Sesame–flavored drinks, which you don’t see everywhere. They offer both classic coffee options and more unique specialty beverages, so whether you’re in the mood for something refreshing or something sweet, they’ve got you covered.
One of the best parts about this spot is that it’s located near other food trucks, so you can easily grab breakfast or lunch along with your coffee. Seating is casual and outdoor, so it’s perfect for enjoying your drink in the sunshine.
I love stopping here before heading to the beach for a caffeine boost or afterward for a sweet treat or refreshing drink. It’s simple, quick, and perfectly placed for a day spent by the ocean.
Nectar Cafe
Located in the heart of downtown Hilo, Nectar Cafe stands out as one of the most vibrant and creative coffee shops in Hilo. The space is filled with bold colors, thoughtful design details, and an inviting atmosphere that makes it more than just a place to grab coffee; it’s an experience.
The drink menu reflects that same energy. Nectar offers a wide selection of specialty lattes, handcrafted teas, smoothies, and matcha drinks, along with seasonal creations that are both visually stunning and well-balanced in flavor. If you’re searching for unique coffee drinks in Hilo or a café that delivers both quality and presentation, this is a top contender.

Kula Shave Ice
Kula Shave Ice might not technically be a coffee shop, but I had to include it because their Organic Sea Salt Maple Latte truly has a chokehold on me. It’s that good. It’s rich, sweet, and perfectly balanced, and you can tell the ingredients are super clean and high quality. If you’re someone who cares about what’s actually in your drink, this is such a solid spot.
They’re known for using organic ingredients, which makes a difference in both their espresso drinks and their shave ice. Everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully made, not overly sugary or artificial.
The location is also a huge plus. Kula is right in the heart of the downtown Hilo Farmers Market, so it’s the perfect stop before or after walking around and shopping. I love grabbing a drink while browsing the vendors, or stopping by after to cool down.
And of course, they’re famous for their shave ice. If you’re traveling with kids or just have a sweet tooth, this is an easy win because everyone can find something they like. It may not be a traditional café setting, but if you’re looking for a great latte in downtown Hilo, especially one made with quality ingredients, Kula is absolutely worth the stop.
